Our Philosophy
We believe that the energy transition will happen only if prospection methods become more affordable, faster and can be adapted to all kind of terrain. The growing need of deeper resources requires deep-reaching methods. We use NANT (Nodal Ambient Noise Tomography) and DERT (Deep Electrical Resitivity Tomography) to shed light on geothermal, groundwater and mineral resources hosted in the first kilometers of the crust. The combination of such methods reduces sub-surface uncertainty while de-risking the project.
Invert is a Swiss Start-up created to provide innovative solutions for the market of the energy transition. Invert is a geophysical service provider which specializes in imaging of geo-resources, such as geothermal, groundwater and mineral resources, using innovative passive seismic, and electromagnetic methods. These methods are called NANT (Nodal Ambient Noise Tomography) and DERT (Deep Electrical Resistivity Tomography). The geophysical methods are then complemented by geochemical analyses that provide key information about the origin of the resource.
Our growth: Invert was initially conceived as the operative branch of the Group of Deformation and Fluid Flow at the University of Geneva that was launched under the framework of the SCCER - Swiss Competence Centre for Energy Research Supply of Electricity. Today Invert became a solid company working across continents, particularly in Europe and South-East Asia. Invert is the only service provider who is capable of delivering Nodal Ambient Noise Tomography (NANT) and extract from the same dataset Nodal Ambient Noise Attenuation Tomography (ANAT). Data are further constrained by high resolution DERT and NLET (Nodal Local Earthquake Tomography).
Resolution with depth: To date Invert is the only company to have experience in exploring geothermal settings with Nodal Ambient Noise Tomography with the aim of maintaining high resolution down to 5 km depth. The shallow part of the system is also investigated with DERT that grants m-scale resolution.
Uniqueness of Invert: Combining NANT and NANAT - While being able to deliver high-resolution images to about 5 km depth is challenging, Invert is also the only provider that implements NANAT, i.e. attenuation from the seismic ambient noise. Traditional studies require earthquakes to perform attenuation that is something that cannot be granted in Switzerland on the
short timeframes of exploration. Attenuation is a key parameter because the highest is the content of fluids, the highest is the attenuation. When looking at deep-seated acquirers attenuation is the parameter to have. Other seismic providers do not offer this method. This is why being the only service provider able to combine a high resolution nodal ambient noise tomography and nodal ambient noise attenuation tomography, grants Invert being at the forefront of prospection methods.
